Glad they took the case.
Musta been someone experienced...I don't think anybody can get an instrument in the case correctly the first try.
This happened last week.
I got a notice from my CALS membership e-mail site.
The person who reported it, unforunately, said that a "gun" was stolen, and the website passed it along that way.
I wrote back and advised them to use different language when reporting theft of survey equipment.........:'(
Many years ago I was to run some elevations to the basements of buildings along Lincoln's main street through the business district. Anyway, I had to meet with the president of the Wells Fargo bank and explain exactly what we would be doing since the basement was evidently being used as their vault. I didn't mean to tell him that I would be using the "gun" while the other guy would "hold up" the rod. Needless to say, he had to challenge me on the use of those words since certain words were key words that all employees had to clarify from the speaker if they heard them being used within the bank.
Thats two towns away from me. I'm going to local pawn dealers to spread word not to take surveying equipment in, or to inform the police about it. Not sure if it will do any good, but if dealers know we are watching maybe they'll think twice about taking our survey stuff in.
I always put my robot case back in the truck after I set it up. Same as the GPS. My thinking is that without the case, it should raise a red flag to any potential buyer that maybe this equipment is stolen! Sure hope they had a good inland marine policy! I have one on my equipment for full replacement value and it covers theift, fire, dropping it, having it ran over by a truck or heavy equipment! It ain't cheap, but without my robot and GPS, my solo act is dead in the water!

Hmmmm.....you think they would try to pack it away nice and neat before throwing it in the truck and driving away? I imagine that machine never got off the tripod and they picked up everything in site and scooted.
If you don't mind me asking how much is that costing you?
