I have a Sokkia set530R (Carlson receiver) with a Panasonic datalogger that is no longer usable. I need to get a new datalogger/data collector, but haven't a clue what would be compatible with the total station.?ÿ I'm an archaeologist and outside my wheelhouse on this one. I'd appreciate if someone can help point me in the direction of a what I need in terms of a datalogger today with this instrument. Thanks. Jan?ÿ
Did your 530R come with a manual and onboard software.
I have?ÿ 530R and 330R that has the Sokkia onboard software will do what you want without connecting a data collector.
That said, I use HP48GX with SMI v7as I have been a SMI user since it was developed for the HP41.
contact me at harrissurv at yahoo dot com if you need a manual or software help.

A Harris,
Thanks for the reply. I am checking out what you said with my crew chiefs. I may just be contacting you. For most small excavation projects (a few 1 m by 1 m test units), we can use the GPS and pull a tape, so the Total Station has been sitting around for some time unused. It's in very good shape and we have projects upcoming where it will be the best way to set a grid and map excavation at a site.?ÿ Jan
?ÿ
Spectra Precision's Survey Pro?ÿand Carlson's SurvCE?ÿare 2 data collection packages that can be purchased new and work with a lot of different instruments. I suggest that you contact those sellers and find out if your instrument is among those that they support.
Thank you.?ÿ
Thank you.?ÿ
You can get the SDR33 really cheap on ebay. It would be naturally compatible since it is made by SOKKIA.
In my archaeology class we made a grid for the site with a transit and a tape. The only data we collected was
what square you were in and how deep.
