Just another Mass-hole signing on. Long on field experience, short on money (like all the other surveyors). Just sat and passed the national portion, waiting to hear back on the state specific - fingers crossed. Hope this finds everyone well.
Good luck. Hope you passed the state specific. Welcome to the zoo.
I' m gonna guess here, so bear with me..
Somewhere near forty. 5 - 10 years experience in the field and you just realized your biological clock was ticking...or you're tired of working for an LS that you feel doesn't know as much as you do.
Once again, good luck!
At least you are not from Californication!
See we can laugh at ourselves.
Congrats!
Yeah...what Paden said. In fact I suspect about 38 years old.....
Good luck and welcome.
Surveying is like fishing. Sometimes you catch a stringer load, and sometimes just a few, or none.
The more you catch, the more work there is, cleaning them!
Sometimes you go into a neighborhood, and EVERYTHING is monumented. (big stringer of fish). And, sometimes there is next to nothing monumented. (not many fish.
Often, the ones that are heavily monumented, require much thought, Especially if there are lots of pincushions going when you get there. Takes a while to clean these.

Paden, I'm from Massachusetts. No one knows as much as I do.
38. Started during summers in high school, my father had a friend go out on his own - taught me more than I ever realized, especially when he laid me off 5 winters in. 1 year of college in the natural progression of high school to college, dropped out and surveyed full time (dropped out because I found I liked women and alcohol more than studying, not that I didn't already know that...). Graduated Magna Cum Laude (it's amazing what you can do when it's your own cash) in 2008 with a BSCE. Got the EIT got the SIT. Never done nothing but a paper route, flip burgers and survey.

...should we tell W.W.S. not to mention the word "f-e-n-c-e" when he talks to some surveyors in Tejas?
