I got my computer infected with some sort of virus (through an attempt to "update" Adobe Flash Player last night). Anyway, just now I attempted to view the BeerLeg site and each time I typed that into the URL window on Mozilla, it took me directly to POB! It took 3-4 attempts before I could get rid of the POB website.

Sounds pretty severe to me ...

Downright nasty.

Has anyone else been getting "Me" in their from section?
I got one from you Cliff on Oct 13 "Clifford J Mugnier, Me"
It was a fortran question. And others such as "Lyndon, Me, Lyndon"
"Don, Me". Me thinks something is up.

I received this message from my IT consultant last week...

“New Malware Threatens to Encrypt Hard Drive.

The new 'CryptoLocker Virus' Malware that holds computers for ransom by encrypting the user's hard drive has been spreading on the Internet - the user is asked to pay $300 in bitcoins to the hacker within 100 hours of the infection, or else their computer files will be cryptographically locked, making it almost impossible to access them.”

Have a great week! B-)

I've read that in the CryptoLocker case, selected files on the hard drive are encrypted. If the ransom isn't paid in the allotted time, the decryption key will be discarded by the criminals and no one will be able to decrypt the files.

You're right, Ashton. Yesterday I had to wipe out a hard drive and re-install all the programs. All personal files were lost because they were encrypted. I hired a professional to try to get back one particular file, but he couldn't.
I'm glad the computer wasn't my work computer.
I now have my back-up hard drives disconnected from my computer except when I use them. At least they are protected somewhat.
The "Trojan" works in the background until it has your files, then a big red count-down screen pops up with payment instructions.
If you notice your computer slow down, hit the off button. That way you can rescue the files it didn't have time to encrypt.

Lucky me i keep back ups on 2 separate hard drives which i update every month 😀
I have been through some nasty viruses and hard drive corruptions and will always back up my files so i don't have to go through that again WHAT A HEADACHE!
