How long is Keith going to be in the penalty box? Are his two minutes for high sticking up yet? The board needs his wisdom.

So, is Keith in the penalty box?

Poor Keith.

What I interpret Wendell as trying to do, is AVOID being a daddy to every ill raised child, on this forum. (How he will do that, is beyond me!) So, deleting rebels, is a fast and easy answer. How to make a comeback? Hmmmm Maybe a few roll overs, and an apology would do.

Fact is, Wendell does not have the TIME and ENERGY to do it all. So, I understand his use of the DELETE USER button.

What would you do? Are you going to tell Wendell how to run his site? Maybe a polite suggestion would suffice.

I really don't have the answers, but I do have ideas.... and some bad ones too!!!

I have already suggested a spot called "The Bilge" where trash winds up. ie, move all discussions that get out of hand to the bilge.

But, as I said earlier, Wen and Angel do not want to be parents to all the folks that need additional parenting. Who wants to be Ted Dura's daddy? (Smirk)

So, I don't have the answer, but, I do see Wendell's point.

And, that is where we have to start.

Make this site fun, and low maintenance. How do we all get there, without a spanking?

My daddy used to offer me a $10 fine, for my stupid mistakes as a kid, or a spanking. I always took the spanking. My butt would feel better later, but my wallet would suffer forever!

I have enjoyed the site over the last year, and think it is being run great. This is Wendell's board, we play in his sandbox, using the parameters that he decides, and I am just fine with that.

By the way, I also run a forum, and Wendell is more easy going and forgiving than I am. I will give you one warning, and then ban you for life, delete your posts, and bock your IP address so you can't even see the board from anywhere in your region. Life is too short, more things are important then bickering on a website.

My brain must have been running slowly yesterday as it took several minutes after looking at the pics posted of Cotton Hill before I realized it was Keith. I was out from Friday until yesterday morning so missed the fireworks. Still trying to guess who the other two culprits were.

"The Bilge"

Another forum that I visit has several senior members who have the ability to act as moderators, so the work of watching for threads or members who go off the rails.

They have something for dealing with threads that begin to go awry but haven't gone so far so that several members get deleted. Each moderator has the abilty to delete individual posts, lock threads or delete them. The ability to lock a thread is good for those that start to go sideways, but still contain good info. A locked thread can be viewed but not posted to.

It's a tool that works well if there are enough moderators to keep an eye on everything. With a forum as active as this one, with only a couple of moderators, it's really easy for a thread to go past the point of using the lock thread tool to serve as a warning and to save thread content before it's overwhelmed with trash.

Something for Wendell & Angel to consider if they get help in the form of additional moderators.

Agree.

Wisdom was as lacking in KW's posts as it is in mine.
Well, maybe not so much as mine, but it was lacking. 🙂
I'm having a problem with "was" and "is."
Unrelated to the discussion at hand.

Going to bed now

I'm not sure what posts caused the ruckus, but I commented on a really awful comment made by some guy that really hates Abe Lincoln.
