LOL this made me giggle cause this is definitely something I'd say! 😀

Yup, that's what they did to me. Mine are all black and blue right now but they'll heal up in time. Sure makes it easy to shower with that DermaGlue stuff protecting them! 😀

Post Surgery Doctors Appointment Update

Here is the latest...

Today was my 1st post surgical appointment with my surgeon. It was suppose to be my ONLY appointment but...I have run into some post surgical "complications", so I get to go back in 2 weeks. If I start running a fever over 101½º then I will be checking back in the at Hotel De Salem Hospital.

Apparently my gall bladder was in worse shape than originally thought. My biopsy showed a very irritated & inflamed gall bladder with damaged walls. I had "several" stones. They stopped counting at 12 and did not include the stones inside my ducts. My stones were CALCIUM stones! Not cholesterol ones! In a strange way I was glad to find this out because it proves I didn't eat a bunch of junk and fat to cause my stones.

Doc thinks that I may have a bile duct injury, or a nerve injury, or something else going on. The stones in the ducts clogged up everything and caused back up of bile and other fun fluids. They may also have damaged the ducts trying to make their way through. Imagine passing something the size of a pea through the size of a ramen noodle. Ahhh no wonder I was miserable at times!

I still am not feeling "good". I'm ok until I start doing stuff; then my body gets pissy. I am still retaining fluid. I have about 8-9 pounds of fluids on me at the moment, all in my abdomen. (this explains why it gets painful after a bit to sit straight up in any car, chair, etc... & why wearing bras right now sucks!) I look pregnant. I am having a burning, sizzling pain where they chop chopped the gall bladder out. (Doc thinks that is cause of the nerve being cut.)

I also am having other "difficulties". Mainly stuff that is too gross to mention here. Mr. Liver, Mr. Pancreas & their friends the intestines are being naughty and not cooperating with me. My poor husband had to endure one of my bad episodes yesterday and he about keeled over himself.

On a good note, my doctor is awesome! He stayed with us for an hour explaining everything. He thinks my body is just having a very hard time adjusting because I was so sick for so long and that I had more damage than thought, that now it has to get it's "chemistry" back in sync. He is hoping that in the next 2 weeks that most of this will pass. My incisions are healing well, and everything else is very healthy. That's because of all of the walking I was doing before surgery. I can start walking again as long as I don't get sick from it. Funny, I can walk but I cannot sit upright. Go figure.

Hawaii may be on hold. Phooey! But we can go another time. Right now I would be happy to feel good enough to finish unpacking and organizing my house and to be able to do simple things like dishes, laundry, vacuuming, etc... (Ya, those of you that know me know this "disorganization" is driving me nuts! :P) My poor husband is stuck being "everything" right now. Housecleaner, chef, maid, chauffeur, caterer, etc... His "white tornado" fizzled out...for now.

When I am all better, I am making a HUGE pot of spaghetti & meatballs! But for now, it's still mild food. Doc said the BRAT diet. Dang it no cheeseburger yet!! Glad our Oregon In-N-Out doesn't open until March. 🙂

Pic is the fluid pretending to be a baby. Wah. :girl:
