You think it's fast now? Get ready to buckle up.

We've nearly got all our ducks in a row concerning the move to a new server. It will be far faster than it is already and the peak times should have the most noticeable increase in performance. Also, those who have had trouble before should see a very noticeable difference overall.

The new server is easily upgradeable as well, so as we need more space, bandwidth, CPU capabilities and RAM, we can add them. I have partnered up with a good friend of mine, the owner of Maxim Hosting (be sure to tell him Wendell sent ya if you buy something from him ;-)), and he's giving us a great deal. He's also going to keep a hand in managing the server to make sure things run as smooth as possible.

The move will likely occur sometime over this coming weekend, during a low traffic period. The site may be disabled during the transition, otherwise postings during that short time could be lost forever. If disabling it for awhile is necessary, it would likely be for an hour or less and probably somewhere between midnight and 2am Pacific time on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

How's this going to affect finances, Wendell? How ya doing in that regards? I keep noticing how few here are pitching in with 'beer money' compared to how many registered members there are now.

Just asking, I can help a little if you need it. I'd hope others would, too.

Hey Ed,

Thanks for the offer! We've had a really great response, actually. I didn't setup the deal until I knew we could handle the cost for well into the future. No worries there, but thanks again. 🙂

I am sure other would also like to know what amount is considered as a fair donation?

Beer Money

Well, I don't know what others think, but I'll tell you what I have done. Right at the very beginning I sent $20 and then when we got into the second month I sent another $20.

I remember one other person saying how he figured it was worth the cost of a magazine subscription so that is what he sent.

Your opinion may vary - so be it. And there is no obligation to send anything at all.

As to how to send money, I used PayPal. If you go to the "Beer Money" page (upper right hand corner to find link) you will see links to pay with either PayPal or credit card.

Beer Money

Yes, and thanks to everyone who has donated! You guys and gals are awesome... every time a donation comes in, regardless of the amount, I am flabbergasted all over again. I am so grateful that you enjoy the board so much that you would willingly send money without even being asked... amazing, simply amazing.

Me too!! I am so grateful and appreciative that I cannot even put it down in words what I feel in my heart for you guys and the donations!!! But I CAN and will keep sending out thank you cards, hand written from yours truly. Once we get a little ahead of the game I want to get some decals made and send those along with the thank yous. It's the LEAST we can do for you guys. If you're ever close by, stop by for supper!! Wendell cooks well. LOL! 😉 😀

Just an update... we've moved the move to next weekend. There were a couple of tiny issues and we want to do some testing first just to make sure things are okay.
