Personally I like the continuos flow of the threads. Another site I visit automatically brings to the top every thread which has a new response. One thread entitled "what did you do today" will not die, it has over 1600 responses.

Fortunately, if you did actually decide you want the latest threads to pop to the top, just click the Order button in the top right menu. 🙂

Actually, i like at least that quality of other boards!
I'd even suggest that the default mode for this board should be changed to 'Order by date of last reply'. So long as there is a valid discussion, no matter when the thing began, i think people should (or would like to) see that it is happening/continuing.
The problem with having 'Order by date of thread' as the default (i'm not suggesting that the option be removed, just not be the default) is that people may not be aware of the option to change it. (See, e.g., this discussion from a while back https://surveyorconnect.com/index.php?mode=thread&id=29594)
Of course, i'm preaching to the converted here: unless you already have 'Order by date of last reply' set, you're not going to see this :-S
