Wendell should read the law!

Here are some points to ponder:

  • If you want something removed from a message board that you do not own, you should ask respectfully of the owner, citing a reason or reasons.
  • I am only one man and I cannot read every single post in every single thread. I do what I can to moderate this forum and require help from the users to point me to offensive threads. I catch what I can, but I need your help.
  • Barking orders in a post in the forum itself means that I may or may not see it and therefore may or may not be able to do something about the problem. See the two points above.
  • If you request moderation, it doesn't mean I'll actually do what you are requesting. I try to leave at least a little bit of leeway for the users to have and use some decency when posting and/or replying to threads.
  • Use common sense. However, I'm beginning to think it's not so common anymore, so maybe I should be asking everyone to just use some sense.
  • If I came to your house, told you how to arrange the furniture and told you to remove certain pieces of art on the walls because they were offensive to me, would you do it? If you are particularly hospitable, yes, you just might do it. But should you be required to do it?
  • As always, please review the Rules and Terms of Use you agreed to when registering here when in doubt about anything.
  • Assumptions will always get you in trouble. Assuming that I removed a thread for a particular reason without knowing the facts is ridiculous. As I've mentioned many times before, if a thread gets out of hand, it will be removed. It doesn't really matter who started it or who ended it, what matters is that it was out of hand. So please don't be offended when I remove a thread you started, because it may not be your fault. Of course, it may actually be your fault, but that's my point -- don't make assumptions.

Side question: If you want to reply to specific subject matter, does it make sense to create an entirely new thread or would it be considered rational to simply reply to the existing post?

Also, P&R has been temporarily turned off. I need to get some work done so I can pay my bills. Any P&R posts posted in non-P&R categories will result in deletion and a ban on the posting user for no less than a week.

I have no idea what this post is about, but does anyone really think the cops, DA, or FBI care if someone got their feelings hurt on a message board?

I obviously missed something today. These rules seem fair. Some discussions get heated in P&R. I think it's a symptom of politics in our country. We are more divided today than since the Civil War. I'd be curious to know what set today off. Anyone feel free to e-mail me with the details.

We probably all should tone it down a bit, but posts I've seen both sides get a little angry ( mine included).

Stop while you are ahead. I didn't start this thread so you could whine about who caused it.

"He started it!"
"Did not!"
"Did so!"
"Did not!"

ad nauseam...

Nice. Top cat.

I love watching cats interact when one of them knows he is about to get his ass kicked.

Colleagues-

Wendell and Angel have taken on a mighty task to all our benefit.

Wear long pants, stroke the fur in the right direction and think before you type !

Please remember the Golden Rule.

WTF man? You want something done, and then chastise the person who has to do it by calling him out saying he should read the law!? I'd bounce your butt just for doing that. Wendell's a good guy. Don't crap where you eat!

Did you know that Wendell took my thread off, but not the offensive one....

My thread put the blame where the blame is.

Well, it is Wendell forum, guess he can do what he likes. Why are you trying to cause trouble, you already stirred everything up earlier?

D.J.

You are right, it is Wendell's forum and he can do as he likes,

but, I was "annoyed" when he deleted my thread about what is behind this nonsense protest and he did not take off the offensive bigoted one....in my opinion of course.

And I said so.

If you read it all, you may recall that I posted the penalties for attempting to overthrow the US government is a felony and that propaganda does not belong on this board.

And I thanked Wendell for taking it off.

The opening post of this thread is a little misleading, as it only came after some banter and the law was quoted from the U. S. Code.

Closed subject.

If I knew, I'd call 911 and let the cops know. It must have been a really big deal.

Nanny nanny boo boo!!!!! 😀

Seeing some other replies... actually I have a cat, Moose, who could care less what direction you stroke his fur. He lays on his back and wants his belly rubbed. All I have to do is talk to him a little and he starts purrin like motor boat.

Moderating a forum is the 2nd most thankless job. I helped out during the bobplumb days. The first most thankless job was doing telephone customer support for programmer toolkits I used to work on. Some would pitch a fit about how crappy our stuff was not realizing I was the freaking engineer who designed and built the dam thing. A few times of that, once someone hurt my feelings enough, I let them know just who they were talking to... and wow!! did their demeanor change.
