I have a Zephyr, Zephyr Geodetic, Zephyr 2, and a Zephyr Geodetic 2 antennas. I also have three Compact L1/L2 antennas. The Compact L1/L2 look like they could be opened up and serviced, the Zephyr's look like they cannot.?ÿ

Years ago I had a Zephyr stop working. Now I have my second Zephyr stop working. Never had a problem with any of the others. Well, it is intermittent. If you jiggle the connector at the antenna, it will loose lock, sometimes stop tracking totally. I tried other cables, used that cable on other antennas, etc, and it is definitely the connector at the antenna. I was told when the first one went bad that they are not repairable. Can anyone confirm that or tell me if there is someone somewhere who can fix one? Seems like a relatively minor problem, I can shake the antenna and nothing happens (i.e. no loss of tracking), only at the connector.

Several years ago I had two damaged Zephyr antennas (the small ones) and was able to make one good antenna from the various parts.

Disassembly required a fair amount of lathe work which destroyed whichever housing section I was not trying to save.

If you still have the first Zephyr that stopped working you may be able to accomplish the same thing.

I do not want to try it again.

Good luck!

It might be cheaper to just replace them.?ÿ About a year ago I bought 5 each Zephyr Geodetic antennas on eBay for about $35 each shipped.

Antennae are not really receiver specific. One can replace with another brand that has similar power input requirements. I have used Leica 502 antennae instead of my "Whoppers" with my Z-12s for years because it was more convenient. I currently use a 502 with a Z-Reference Station, because it came without an antenna. I have not seen Zephyr antennae at the Jim Frame price, but definitely at a price preferable to any thought of repair work.
