I have a Trimble 5700 with internal receive radio and I would like to configure it as a base with an external transmit radio. Are there any special Kung fu moves to make this happen? I set my 5800 as a base and 5700 as a rover with no problems, but now I would like to swap them. All this is being done with Survey Pro.
Any special baud rates/internal configurations I should know about? When I get to "set" base, controller just tells me "unable to execute that command, check com setting".
Are there any setting using WinFlash that need to be changed from the computer side of it?
If you've succeeded in doing this I'd appreciate your help.
I think you need to set up a new receiver profile in survey pro with the 5700 as a base rec. and the 5800 as the rover. You may have done that already. If you have, try the auto detect to get the correct comms going.
I've tried profiles, ports, bauds, configure through WinFlash, configure through Trimble Toolbox, etc. I believe the collector is talking to unit because I can tell 5700 to log static through Survey Pro and the static light comes on. Oh and i tried creating a "start_up" file too. I was poking through Trimble Toolbox the other night, set some things, unplugged, went outside and hooked up to antenna and radio "magic" it started working. I then set profile for 5800 rover and began taking shots. Next day I could not replicate.
I am definitely missing something small here, but I am at a loss as to where to look. Perhaps wait to plug external radio in?
I am slowly starting to believe a surveyor needs to know his equipment as good or better than the salesman...
The salesman that is knowledgeable about the equipment they sell beyond the point of basic set-up, is few and far between. The way things are going with manufactures seriously limiting customer support and funneling it through the dealers isn't helping either.
What version of Survey Pro are you running?
