I bought two of the iG3s receivers from Mark Silver, and I hope to enhance the whole experience with the newest version of CHC CGO Office when it is available in the next few months.

Not wanting to travel too far this morning, I simply stepped out of the back door and fired one up! It's what I would call a very "tough" shot with buildings, trees, and obstructions being plentiful. The results should be interesting.

After locating my existing spike, I set it up, pressed the on button, and within moments the blue light was flashing 18 times!

Second question: what's a realistic centering error at that height with whatever you use to plumb It?

I am using a standard 2M pole (Seco 5125-00) with the stock 40' vial. There were no point setup issues or problems with it being top heavy.

That being said, I do use a 3m fixed pole setup with a Leica GS15 on occassion. I usually use two bipods with a 3m setup. I suppose that if it was windy out and stability was a concern, I could easily supplement the hold-a-pole setup with a bipod without any worries.

To me that setup looks odd. Why not stick a tribrach on the legs and a 1 metre pole on an adapter?<br/>Still have severe wind to contend to but no risk of it all falling over. It ?ÿtake too to dislodge the pointed pole from my experience here.?ÿ

I hear what you are saying, but the spike has a dimple on it, and the setup is very sturdy. Zero worries 🙂

No, but the iG3s can be used as a base according to the specs.
"The iG3s does have Bluetooth and it is possible to configure it to be a RTK Base, sending corrections out the serial port. For GNSS applications that do not require Galileo corrections, the iG3s may be an excellent base. "
I hope to add an iG8 or whatever the current rover is in a year or so and as funds allow.

And, currently, I am running a new static session with both receivers in a very open area. Results should be A++.

The results of the 3+ hour backyard occupation were pretty dismal (as expected). The rapid orbit was used for processing...I'll submit again in a week, and then again in two weeks to see the difference.

Congrats on the new receivers!?ÿ I just bought a Javad system last week after a very tough choice of getting that or going with iGage.
I am still learning how to use it and doing checks (surveyors don't trust anything or anybody), but so far am really liking it.
We should get together and cook some points someday when it is not so frickin cold!
