Hi Leegreen,
Thanks for your response,for the sd1000 in mode 2 (in mode 2 the sd1000 is in slave mode waiting for a connection from the last connected bluetooth device), how does the GCX2 base get paired with the sd1000. Do you use ParaniWin to do this? because the GCX2 has no screen to show what it is connecting to.

As for the SD1000 in mode 0 (in mode 0 the SD1000 is waiting for AT commands), so i dont understand how the controller would connect to the sd1000 in mode 0. I thought Mode 3 is when the SD1000 is waiting for any other bluetooth device to connect.

Yes. You use the PC software ParaniWin to set the Mode 2, then pair to the GCX2 Base one time. It will store the pairing info, then always look for that device only.

How should the rover side be set up to receive the corrections? should i use the controller as the modem connect in Magnet Field instead of the receiver?

The Rover will Bluetooth to the DC controller in Magnet Field as normally done. Then when Magnet prompts to connect to Base, you will connect the second Sd1000 that is in mode 3. This Sd1000 is then cabled to the 1st Sd1000 that is in mode, which then connect to the base. Blue is still very limited to line of sight.

Would this not make a total station better?
What is it for, if it requires "line of sight"?
I can see it as sort of useful, to obtain bearings... but really, a set of static receivers would be better for that. Is that what they are for?

I was very impressed with their size. But if they cannot do much...

Ya'll blew me outta the water at bluetooth range of 1000'. I was so glassy eyed in awe at that I had trouble understanding the techs of the rest. I can loose bluetooth link between my datalogger and rtk rover 6' away.

Nate,

The range is 1000ft bluetooth with OEM setup. The repeaters will double that, and allow to bend around objects. This works well for small sights and Topcon Hybrid mode, which is Robotic Total station and GNSS. The GCX2 are most useful to me for travel, easy to carry on flights. To extend the range I use Magnet Relay with a pair of ToughPads, one at the the base and rover. Magnet Relay sends the RTK corrections via cellular modem on the ToughPads. So range is now miles farther than UHF radios, so long as you have cell coverage. I also use them in static mode, along with my pair of Hiper V's.

Leegreen,
So in the case of you losing the base radio behind the garage at 500ft , you could put the repeater on a separate pole at one side of the garage where both the base and rover would have line of sight to it.
By the way, which one of the SD1000's do you pair to the base? is it the one with the patch antenna or the other one?

That is correct.

The patch antenna is directional, so point it towards and pair it to the base.

I have been using the BULLET GPS receiver for a year and it does help a lot when recording building corner or tree. I can put the pole and receiver closer to the surveying feature due to its tiny shape.
