I am changing from Win XP computers to Win 7 64 bit.

Is there a replacement for the Ashtech Solutions program for the Promark 2 that will work on the Win 7 64 bit computer?

Thanks, I will give it a try.

All I was finding were offers that included all kinds of unwanted "free programs" as additional downloads.

How accurate are these? I found a pair of Ashtek ProMark2's in our equipment room. I am taking over the Surveyor position here at the Borough when the Surveyor now retires withing the the next year or so. He says he hardly uses them because he has control established with IP's he's found on jobs.. He's the kind of guy that if its within a foot it's good enough to tie control into. We do our own survey/design for our construction work in the Borough and I wanted to create/set monuments throughout the Borough that I know won't move as much. I figured that would be a great Winter project for myself and an intern. I'm used to using Topcon GR3 and GR5 at my old job so another question is, do they use OPUS or do they have their own computing software? Thanks!

I have set up a network of control points that I have tied into NGS benchmarks. We have good results transferring control with the three units we have. Our usual technique is to set them up on control points when we get to a job site and let them cook all day while we do other work. This give us super long occupy times, without much crew time spent.

We use them a lot for transferring elevation for elevation certificates.

They are L1 only units, so they are not OPUS compatible.

Having said that, they are the predecessor to the Promark 3 units, and I had great success with my Promark 3 units.

There are alot of guys that still use them, and I am sure they will chime in. The Ashtech FTP site will have a lot of useful information.

Good luck, they will be a good addition to your toolbox.

I Run Ashtech Solutions On A WIN 7/32 sytem

When first installed it would not read my L2 dongle. After I got tired of Windows hiding new files in strange places I changed the permissions to allow it to work as it did in earlier Windows. It now finds the dongle.

Running it in 64 is a problem I have zero experience with, which is why I specifically bought a 32 machine.

GNSS Solutions runs fine because it's Projects folder was not a subdirectory in Program Files.

I would ditch Ashtech Solutions and make the conversion to GNSS Solutions. Solutions has a MUCH-MUCH-MUCH better baseline processor than AS. It will fix shorter occupations. And it will fix occupations that fail in AS.

This link GNSS_Sol

will get you a single ZIP file that has the latest GNSS Solutions setup file.

Watch this video

If you are in USA then install Geoid12A

To the best of my knowledge, everything works in Win 8.1 64-bit (that is what I am running) EXCEPT the project archive function (which I personally miss.)

Good luck!
