Hi,

I have a Spectra Pecision Epoch 35 with internal Pacific Crest UHF modem 450-470Mhz.

I mainly use it as network rover and not using the Uhf modem.

I would like to use the Uhf modem with another Base station with Uhf radio also 450-470 but having problem connecting each other. The protocol for both base and rover is set to Trimtalk.

For start how do I configure the Channels of the Epoch 35? I don't know what frequency each channel has.

SurvCE doesn't show the frequency in the RTK tab just the channel. Tried Survey Pro to check if I can configure the modem but no luck.

Do I have to use some external application like PDLCONFIG?

Sorry for my ignorance but I never dealt with Uhf modems.

Survey pro and Trimble access can be used to connect and configure some modems in RTK heads. I'm not sure about Epoch 35. I used pdlconfig and now adlconfig to connect to external pacific crest radios. I've never tried to connect to an internal pacific crest radio. You are correct about channels, they are meaningless. The frequencies must match even if that means different channels are selected. Survey Pro allows you to see the frequency the modem is currently operating on. Good luck.

Thanks, I installed Survey Pro 6.1.1 which is the last version supporting Epoch 35 but it doesn't show the frequencies of the channels.

Maybe I should try some older version of Survey Pro?

After some searching I found the info I was looking. I have to configure the internal Uhf by using the PDLconfig tool from Trimble.

The receiver must be powered on in radio mode and connect the proper cable to the pc in order to config it.

I will test it. Thanks

Survey Pro 5.4.2 when you start a survey it asks you to connect to a receiver on this screen you can see both the channel and the frequncy. I will try to post a picture.

@lurker

Ok I did configured the frequencies by using PDLconfig tool from Trimble. Now I have to check if it receives the corrections from another uhf modem.

I have also a Sokkia receiver with internal GSM modem. If I buy an external Satel 3Asd radio modem will it work with the Pacific Crest PDL as long as the same protocol is used? Trimtalk and transparent are the protocols supported by the PDL modem. Satel uses also Trimtalk right?

I am looking for an inexpensive uhf modem solution for small sites. I think 1Watt modem is adequate for my needs.

Radio communications are a three (3) part affair.?ÿ First, all must be on the same frequency.?ÿ Second they must be communicating on the same modulation/protocol such as GSMK and FSK.?ÿ Finally they must be sending corrections in the correct data format such as CMR+ or RTCM.

I'm not familiar with the Satel 3Asd model but I do have a Satel Satelline 4Pro does offer GSMK for Trimtalk and PacificCrest.?ÿ I do not see those options in the 3As documentation.

Ok I did configured the frequencies by using PDLconfig tool from Trimble. Now I have to check if it receives the corrections from another uhf modem.

The test was successful finally! I used a kolida receiver as base broadcasting corrections over uhf using Trimtalk protocol and RTCM3 format. My receiver Epoch 35 was set in the same channel-protocol-format and it instantly received the corrections! After a few seconds...fix!

The only thing I couldn't check is the channel spacing of the base station (the rover has 25khz channel spacing) but I assume it was the same..
