This is link is for a local news piece discussing the prospect of some of Colordoƒ??s 14,000+ feet peaks will be <14,000 under the new height system.

Lots of good info and well presented.

Included in the clip is an absolute meter in operation.?ÿ

"The new measurements will help to build flood maps that use gravity to predict the flow of water down to the half-inch"

Ok then, now that we are going back to NGVD 29 we will get better accuracy (I know, I know, it's not 29 only very close to the same #s); and the statements that the old elevations were measured with a ruler seems a bit dismissive, those old guys were remarkable doing what they did. Us new guys with all our tech aren't in that league, not even close. More respect would be nice.

And they might mention that they adjusted everything about 30 years ago, now they are readjusting it all back closer to the "guys walking around with the rulers" (at least in some areas). I mean, imagine, they walked around!!
