I recently stumbled across a receiver called GLRM — looks like a compact RTK unit with built-in tilt compensation. Supposedly it can hold 15–20 mm accuracy even when the pole is tilted past 60°, and it supports all GNSS constellations.
On paper, it seems like it could save a lot of time in rough terrain or when shooting topo in tight spots where leveling is a pain.
Has anyone here actually used it in the field? I’m curious how it stacks up against Trimble, Leica, or even the newer tilt-enabled Emlid receivers. Battery life? Reliability under canopy? Real accuracy?
Would love to hear if it’s just marketing or if it really makes a difference.
I'm not familiar with that unit. It looks like a very low cost thing. I can assure you that the Leica GS-18 I've been using the last 4 years has tilt sensing that works reliably, and that tilt sensing is a very useful thing to have.
Yeah I’ve tried the GLRM a bit. It’s small but actually does what they claim — tilt works fine and accuracy has been good aswell, even under trees. Battery held up all day too.
