Seeking help/tips/recommendations:

What would be the best way to send corrections from ATX1230+GNSS (base) to GS18t rover (with internal Satelline?ÿ UHF radio, and AT&T modem).?ÿ

UHF radios? If so which radio to get for the ATX1230"GNSS?

Thanks

Ben,

I hope you got an answer by now from talking to the person you purchased the equipment through.

If not, you will need a UHF radio. There are two major players in the surveying industry when it comes to UHF radios. Pac Crest and Setel.

Hello Eric, I found this thread that I am interested in doing a similar thing. We have two GX1230's that my new boss has had for 12 years. He quit using it 10 years ago. His thoughts and I agree are we can make base stations from both units. So I will need a radio to adapt to each one. Then we can buy?ÿ newer rovers with radios built in and run two separate jobs with GPS . We are a small construction firm in Maryland on the Eastern shore. He quit using the GPS as he had issues finding someone to make 3d files and other stakeout setup, so it went into an unfinished office and stayed there for a decade.

On another issue that the GX1230's have now is the ME file. I found where it needs the newest 3.??? but when I try to load it , no update. I had an earlier ME2 and was able to get the 2.127 into the GX1230. I am stuck there now?ÿ but when/if I can solve that it is pick out radio's and a smart rover.

?ÿ

Thanks?ÿ for any help.

Chester

Chester,?ÿ

Your GX1230's would be great base stations. To find out what would be the best base station you need to find out what is the radio in your new rover, then you can match the radios.

The only negative of using the GX1230's as a base would be if your new rover can track other constellations that your base could not. For example if your base does not track GLONASS then your rover will not fix ambiguities with GLONASS satellites. However in the example your rover would still fix with GPS satellites. You are only as strong as your weakest link.

As for measuring engines, the first number denotes the physical measuring engine in your unit. So if you were able to load 2.127 on to your unit then you have a second generation ME. That is the latest ME for your generation of?ÿ your equipment.?ÿ

Thanks?ÿ

Eric,

With the Satel Easy Pro, which variant should I use...HPR1, HPR2 or HPR3?

Also, I read your comments above re the GX1230 with GPS only. The ATX1230+GNSS I have uses GPS,GLONASS, Galileo and L5. I am assuming this will allow the GS18t rover to run without any issues(?).

Thanks

?ÿI've only used the HPR3, so i can't speak to the other radios. The HPR3 is a 35W radio.?ÿ

As long as your antenna has licences to those frequency then it would work. Enjoy the 18T?ÿ

Anyone know if a radio receiving on 25khz channel spacing can receive from a base transmitting a 12.5khz channel signal?

Thanks

I have been told that that is the case.?ÿ I would guess that you only get half of the channel choices though.

The rover might receive some information from the base if it is setup with the base on 12.5 and the rover on 25kHz. However this will not work well at all. Most rovers are easy to program even in the field if needed depending on the version and how old it is.?ÿ
