So many of you know that we replaced one of our busted Trimble?ÿ R8-3 receivers with a Javad-LS and 1M Combo a few weeks back. Since that time I have been loving every single aspect about the unit! This is just such a perfect piece of equipment!?ÿ
Since the J-Pack is crazy huge and the Javad Softcase is too small I have been thinking about a Pelican case for the unit.?ÿ
But I think I have found a pretty sweet little set-up here:
This Case Logic backpack cost 60 dollars from the "Amazons"?ÿ

The way I have the unit set up it will hold:
1. Javad 1M receiver
2. 1M UHF extension radio antenna
3. Complete charger unit
4. Javad-LS
5. Leica Disto D2 (for offsets)
6. Panasonic CF-54 Toughbook (With Charger)
7. Tribrach
8. Javad Monopole
9. Javad J-Tip

I went the Pelican case (actually, the Storm variant) for mine.?ÿ One holds the LS, another the T2 and 35w radio.?ÿ I have another little one for my Verizon mobile hotspot that locks onto the T2 tripod.
I am glad you are happy with your purchase! ?ÿ

Can you give any feedback as far as the pros and cons that you have experienced so far?
Testimonials are awesome but constructive criticism is how we make the product better!
I love the LS softbag, so classy, but had nothing to carry the T2 and radio.?ÿ A few weeks back I had to hike 1/2 mile in to the site carrying the LS bag, a "string" bag with the Triumph 2 base and radio, monopole, Jpod and stake bag.?ÿ Stuff was falling off my shoulders the whole way.?ÿ I realized I needed a case and thought of an old video camera case my son had picked up.?ÿ With that in mind I did an Amazon (or was it Ebay?) search and found a camera backpack very much like this.?ÿ Not quite as nice, only $20, it does the job, but now I have case envy and want one like that Case Logic.
I also found that carrying the Jpod with the legs flopping around to be clumsy and wondered if anyone had come up with a bag.?ÿ Then I spotted the empty (unfortunately, sad story) bag from a Subsurface locator.?ÿ Perfect!?ÿ Right next to that was an old Promark2 bag, which is my daily case for the T2 and radio.?ÿ
I used the Javad LS the other day to get a post processed location on a monument.?ÿ It was only 400 feet from my T2 base, but somebody (one guess who that could be) had not charged the radio so I did not have RTK.?ÿ I ran the LS for about 20 minutes while I scoped out the line.?ÿ Post processed to the base using?ÿ Javad DPOS service and had a position just as accurate as if I had been using RTK with local base. Oh yes, that monument was in the middle of mature deciduous (leaf off) forest.?ÿ Yes, I like it a lot.
The Jpack is great for carrying all that stuff. It is pretty big like Ryan mentioned but it carries nicely.
That's really sweet looking @StLSurveyor
I am a big fan of the Javad backpack for a rover. I have my shovel and hammer and machete, ribbon, nails, anvil, pin flags, tree boring kit, a couple of rebar, water, lunch, tablet PC,?ÿ etc. and I can put the LS on the monopole in the backpack when I'm running cross country on the 4-wheeler.
I have my Triumph-2 and HPT435BT radio in the Triumph-LS soft pack. It's not quite big enough for the tribrach too, though. I'm not a fan of carry the base and rover together because I don't use them that way. I prefer to have a base bag and a rover bag. Most probably wouldn't agree with me on that, but that's how I like to roll.
That is a classy bag. Might be a cool way for me to carry my base setup around.
Well, StLs, how do you like the ls?

Anvil, I'd like to see it. I assume it's for straighting out bent irons??ÿ
Anvil.
It's a standard 150 Lb blacksmiths anvil.
Shawn uses it to balance the pack...

I misspoke it's my rod driving cap. Keeps from tearing up the top of the rod when driving it in hard ground so that you can still get an ID cap on. I do have a cap anvil in the truck for stamping, but I don't usually carry it in the back pack (although I could if needed).
