Hello, if I use a Zephyr 2 on a R7 GNSS base instead of a Zephyr 2 Geodetic can I do this and if I can what will the implications be for accuracy?
As I recall, the only difference in the two antenna is the size of the ground plane.?ÿ Avoid areas of likely multi-path.
You really need to look it up based on the part number. 55970, 57970, 55971, 57971, 65212?
For surveying applications, I doubt you will see much of a difference in results, if anything.
If I remember correctly the Zephyr 2 was intended for RTK, while the Geodetic was more of a base/static antenna. Like John mentioned, the ground plane and multipath resistance on the Geodetic is much larger and more robust.
I used both versions of the Zephyr with R7s for lots and lots of static networks in some pretty remote areas, sometimes mixing and matching with 5800, R6 and R8 receivers. Never noticed a discernible difference in baseline quality versus the other antenna types.
