Hi All,
Does anyone know if its possible to lock the screen (or lock the buttons) on the Garmin GPSMAP 64s?
I am looking to get one to do some geological mapping. Previously I had a Garmin Oregon 400 but it recently died.
As a replacement I was thinking about the Oregon 650 but a colleague mentioned that sometimes the touchscreen is ineffective in the wet, and as my geological mapping is primarily for hydropower schemes, I am frequently in the wet. So after a quick scan on the internet I saw some good things about the Garmin GPSMAP 64s which has a better antenna (useful in gullies and thick forest) and its buttons work fine when wet.
However, recently I had to borrow an old Garmin eTrex and was very frustrated to find I couldn't lock the button. So whenever I knocked it, it would change something. I don't want to have the same problem with the GPSMAP 64s if I get that.
Unfortunately, I don't live near a dealer where I can go try it out and a quick google search couldn't answer my question so hopefully one of you is familiar with this model...
Thanks
Andy
The user manual for the 64s is here:

And phone numbers for Garmin customer support are here:

Hopefully, from one or the other, you can get the correct answer. Good luck!
I have the Garman GPS Map 60 and it has worked great in all kinds of weather.
All I've done to it was cut out and put on a screen protector.
