Yes, I am ancient. Started with a transit, wooden tripod and a chain. Do we need GPS to survey. No. Has using GPS become the norm. Yes. But don't forget to walk those old fence lines. You might miss that encroaching building or other encroachments. Take the time to "walk in the footsteps of our original Surveyors".
