Hi,

I own a Sokkia GSR2700ISX with internal GSM modem that I use as my daily network rover.

Recently I acquired a used Spectra Precision Epoch 35 receiver with internal UHF modem. For 500$ i think it was a great deal.

My goal is to make the two receivers "talk" to each other so looking for possible options.

1. First option is to add an external UHF modem to the Sokkia and use the Epoch as rover. I don't like very much this idea because the external UHF modems are expensive, bulky and need external battery. Correct me if I am wrong.

2. Second option is long range bluetooth. I see that Parani SD-1000 adapters can transmit up to 1000m with extra antennas. If that works both receivers should be equipped with parani adapters or only the base? I am not sure how to configure this scenario with SurvCE. Is it possible?

3. Third option is to use the Sokkia as Mobile Reference Station and broadcast the corrections to a ntrip caster (Lefebure,SNIP or RTK2GO free service). Have done this and works great with any receiver that works as network rover. But unfortunately Epoch 35 doesn't work as a network rover out of the box because of its design. It has 2 COM ports and only the COM1 is combined with bluetooth. The COM2 gets the corrections and then the receiver outputs the solution to COM1. Some later models of epoch 35 have the bluetooth nrtk option but is usable only with Survey Pro and not SurvCE that I use. Anyway I have the old version that doesn't support NRTK with bluetooth. For this reason I ordered from ebay a lemo to bluetooth adapter that I hope that will work. I will connect it to the COM2 port and send the corrections from the data collector to the bluetooth adapter. I did a test with cable and it worked. I connected the epoch 35 cable (7-pin lemo to serial) to a pc and sent the corrections to COM2 with Lefebure Ntrip Client software. It worked! After 5-6 seconds the receiver fix the solution! Then I connected the Epoch to SurvCE with bluetooth and it read the solution. That was great because it seems that I can turn the Epoch to a network rover!

Any comments or suggestions on these options are welcome!

Hi,

I Could not follow why you are doing certain things.?ÿ However, based on what I did understand, why don't you use the Sokkia as base connected to an NRIP Caster using RTK2go (you said you had already done this)?ÿ this way you do not need to connect your PC to the base.?ÿ Get your correction using a hot spot to your Data Collector using SurvCE.
