I am looking to buy a used Leica?ÿ prism
The full-size Leica 360 prisms are awfully heavy; are you sure you want to tote one around all day??ÿ I pretty much never use mine due to its weight and bulk.?ÿ In fact, I'd be willing to part with it if the price is right.?ÿ Do you have a budget in mind?
Jim,
Curious what you use with your Geomax instead of the Leica 360.

I use a Leica mini (GMP101).?ÿ It requires that I pay more attention to where the prism is pointing, and I often lose lock, but most of the work I do (urban boundary and topo) would have me losing lock a lot anyway due to obstructions or having to set the rod down (e.g., to dig for a monument or sketch a detail).?ÿ With the mini I can mix control in with topo and not worry about excessive pointing error.?ÿ And the weight savings alone is worth the lock hassle.
The published centering error difference between the GMP101 and GRZ4/GRZ121 is 1 mm.?ÿ I'm more worried about the dang rod being plumb than centering error in the glass.?ÿ There is certainly a price difference between the two though LOL.?ÿ $1,700 for a prism...SMH
