I'm looking for a TI-84 plus with manual.
Our 8th grader needs one for school.
I thought that I would see if anyone has one in a drawer not being used.
Willing to trade survey stuff or buy.
He needs it for a STEM class this year.
(He supposed to be learning autocad this year too.)
Message me here or reply to
Post.
Thanks

Found a reserved deal on Amazon for a new one.
It makes me cringe to buy a TI calculator since I always been a HP user. But it appears that TI has cornered the JHS and HS market.
Bought my HP11c in 1982 for $110.
Still in use.

TI owns the general math education market and they work hard at keeping it. I used an HP 12 C back in my financial services life. Bought in late 80s and still going. RPN was perfect for the stuff I did back then.

The TI 84 plus is a step or two below an HP 50g, but it will serve your 8th grader very well. Stay involved, though, and make sure that his teacher teaches math and not just calculator work flows. Today's math curricula and the pressure of standardized testing can foster some very bad instructional techniques.

I agree with you. I've been involved with my daughters math and it has been difficult to say the least. She just pushes buttons to find an answer but doesn't know why. Getting better with me involved. TI84 is a great calculator. Biggest struggle for you is RPN vs algebraic input. Also... remember order of operations. Calculator doesn't know it.
