Ran across this. Don't smell right. Just Sayin. Tapcon?
I guess "Ground" delivery would be out of the question.
Hard to say...he spelled it correctly farther down. I see it on ebay with the same picture of the packaged machine. ebay post
He also spells "laser" wrong. ? Is the topcon 4 the same as the 825a? It looks like it's new with some of the original plastic packaging. Same thing seems to go for $4,000 elsewhere.
Oh well, I don't know.
On the plus side
-he gives a phone number.
On the down side,
-the title doesn't seem to match the model number below.
-misspelled Topcon and laser
-the map that pops up is in Salt Lake, not Honolulu
-low asking price
Somebody should see if he will give out the serial number.
How would a guy go about verifying the thing isn't stolen? I'm a firm believer that if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't.
Hold on, hold on. The instrument in the picture is a Topcon GTS 4. I still use one, but its about 20 years old. Parts are no longer available. Its one second gun.
Something wrong here.
Guy texted me back he still has it but has an offer. Said if it falls through he'll let me know. I'm rather dubious as all of this doesn't seem to add up at all.
Just wanted to throw this up there in case someone out that way might be missing a TS.
scroll around the map, there appears to be a salt lake in honolulu.
not sure how to tell if it is stolen or not BUT if he had it for a backup (presumably at work) and cannot take calls at work, then he is not the boss. typically the boss owns the equipment, so what gives?
Aloha, unfortunately it is on different island. Otherwise, I would be happy to check it out.

We call it slow boat;-)

According to the Topcon Museum the GTS-4 is 1989 technology.
I think asking him for the serial number is an excellent way. You could call "Tapcon", possibly and find out. I suspect the person would not give out the sn if it's stolen, and wouldn't hesitate if it's legitimate.
(Wow, if it's a 1989 gun, it sure looks good. I think someone should get clarity as to the model no. They could take a picture of the model and the serial nos.)

I know I'm late to this discussion, but I have the GTS4-A, in fact, two of them. The first one we bought brand new in 1994. It's a 1" gun. I believe the GTS4 was a 3" or 5" gun, which may have been manufactured beginning in 1989. In 1994, our local dealer was selling a lot of them to TXDOT and OkieDOT, so I suspect that the GTS4A was a newer model than the GTS4.
