Well, what Upgrade System did you end up with? Just Curious.

I bought a pair of Carlson Brx7 receivers, brand new, directly from Carlson.

I have a New Box with "Carlson Brx7 receivers" sitting in Lobby to test out. Cool.

Is the upgrade to v3 or later for compatibility the only thing needed to put this package to work?

Yes.?ÿ But, please understand that you only need to upgrade SurvCE on the included XF1 data collector if you don't have another data collector running SurvCE 3 or later.?ÿ Personally, I would try to find another data collector.?ÿ The XF1 works but is fairly slow (slower than, for example, a Carlson Surveyor 2) and has a relatively small screen.?ÿ Even faster and more capable are the newer generation of Windows based touchpads, like the Mesa 2, etc.?ÿ If you're not using a large amount of data, linework, images, etc. perhaps the XF1 would be fine.?ÿ The receivers work great.

?ÿ

This might be relevant

@surveyi

The announcement posted above does not apply to the S320 for sale, rather to receivers S321 and later.?ÿ I made a video, linked below, which shows the S320 receivers working with SurvCE v6.?ÿ Thanks for your interest.

Of course, I'm at about 42 latitude, so I can't say for sure.

@dmyhill

Thanks, I've seen that notice previously.?ÿ It doesn't directly apply to the S320.?ÿ From what I can gather, the announcement reflects a territorial solution between Hemisphere and Carlson.?ÿ In short, Carlson sells and supports its BRx6 and now BRx7 receivers (made by Hemisphere and otherwise known as the S321 and S631 receivers) in North America.?ÿ Not sure, but it appears Hemisphere doesn't sell the S621 and S631 receivers in North America, and either way, Carlson doesn't support them.

Take this w/ pounds of salt.?ÿ The scuttle-butt is that Carlson had a large deal set up and Hemisphere "by the by'd" to them that they could save some money by just buying the Hemisphere version.?ÿ That set off a bit of a riff.?ÿ See also the Stonex models under SurvCE's supported hardware page for a similar situation (but I believe that is more on account of Stonex coming out w/ their own software).

You can still buy just the Hemisphere S631 (at least, here in Canada).?ÿ However, Hemisphere now pushes Field Genius due to said rift.?ÿ See all the recent tutorials they have for Field Genius.?ÿ Their Android version is quite a bit cheaper, but I haven't fully explored the capability difference.

Don't forget that you can often run an unsupported antenna as a rover using NMEA.?ÿ However, I do not believe you can start the base that way.?ÿ Also, note that some people have had difficultly getting access to all of the satellite systems using a radio w/ SurvCE if you do not start the base up w/ SurvCE.

https://docs.emlid.com/reachrs/common/tutorials/survce/

For the fantastic support, Carlson is worth the extra money.?ÿ Rene and David of Hemisphere have always taken good care of us, also.?ÿ Business, as they say, is business.

I still run a S320 w/ SurvCE 5 and it's a great, no-frills system.?ÿ Free bump.

What would be equitable? And, can I run survey pro on this base/Rover?
