My Uncle passed away and left me a couple of transits. Not very pretty but they both work and function perfectly. This is one of them that I would like more info on.
It's a C L Berger, but I'm not sure where serial number is located. If it's the number on the dial face under the name, it is 6363. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like about 1907. Do you have the wood box and all the parts, tools etc.?
Looks like a model 1B, but to be sure I need some measurements. Shoot me an email with the length of the compass needle, diameter of the horizontal circle, diameter of the vertical circle, length of telescope, etc.

Looks like the one I cut my teeth on back in the 60's. Belonged to an old Surveyor named A.O. Harmon, AR license 213. He passed away in the 70's, he had sent the Berger to a nephew that lived up North. He and his wife never had any children.
brings back a lot of memories
Thanks

Eugene Dietzgen Model 6050
Looks very similar...makes me wonder about the manufacturing. A few slight differences in the telescope body.

Original purchase price of $245.00.
Here's the Berger model:

$243.00. 2 bucks cheaper.
