Well, after 3 years solo I ended up taking a position with a mid-size surveying firm here in the area. I just couldn't compete with the guys offering residential boundary surveys for $275-$300. That is not the price for a mortgage inspection, gents. That is a plat that has the "This Professional service conforms to the Illinois Minimum Standards for a Boundary Survey" statement on it. I guess "minimum" means different things to different people. Anyway, if anyone is interested in an equipment list, send me an e-mail. It's been a great ride, and I really wish things would have panned out differently. It's all for the best, I guess. My 11 year old told me I look like a geezer the other day, since my hair is so gray. I told him my hair was fine until I got married & had kids. Now I have a scar from the frying pan, too.
