The Google 'Goggles' app will search images and identify them for you. As an example, if you photograph the label on a water bottle, you are provided links pertaining to that brand that you can click and read more.
Who is working on the tree identification app which would allow a photo of the bark or leaves and make a tree determination?
Sure would be nice to basically have the Audubon tree identification book in my pocket at all times.
That would be nice. I'm looking for an app like "Field Guide to Cows of North America".
with a highlighted section on the stump broke ones?? +o(
> Something like Leafsnap?
Leafsnap looks pretty useful. Too bad there's not an Android port yet. 🙁
Your joking right?
Wow. Not knowing trees that well I could kind of see some use. Damn apps; now I have to try it.
> Your joking right?
Not joking. According the Leafsnap About Page, an Android port is under development, but since it's an all-volunteer effort there's been no release date identified.
Or maybe you were referring to the usefulness of the app. Before I got a smartphone I might have thought the same thing, but after seeing what some of the image analysis applications can do, a plant identification app seems like a perfect use of the technology.
No,I thought he was joking really......
Gotta' love me the app's 🙂
After there will be the property corner identification ap. You can go to the GIS corner locations, take a picture of the evidence, and get the corner specifically identified.
Yes. Something like that. Thanks for posting. I'll have to keep an eye out and see if they adapt it to android as well.
From the sounds of some reviews, it may be a bit finicky. Given how many different species and how different a pair of leaves from the same tree can look, I'm impressed that they are able to get results.
I'll have to get someone I know with an iPhone to try this out and see how well it works.
