Here are my two daughters seeing what surveying is about...they loved the mechanics of the instrument and tracking the telescope , but could not quite grasp the inverted image, will give it a try at the next full moon when an inverted image won't matter.

Nice...the last two are interesting. It appears they are turning angles...but who is setting the stakes?

Insert my Homer drool sounds over that gun. I like the Wilds like Homer likes donuts.

The girls will figure it out quickly. Just set up some targets and let them start turning an recording angles. They will catch on quick and with the young eyes will probably turn flat when doubling in a short time.

Considering also your avatar, it looks a bit like, as punishment for them running over your total station with your grader, you're making them learn to use the old-fashioned theodolite!

Great Pictures!! i started mine a little late, at 15 for real work, although she's been holding the "dumb" end of the tape since she was 6!

Mine was the weird kid in the neighborhood. Caught her tying bits of flagging to sticks and then placing them around the yard. Then pretending to measure from stick to stick.

Hey Christof
I just came across this post. You never told me about your daughter helping you.

Yeah no kidding, that was a shock when I showed my daughter how to turn a set of angles and she could do it better than me.
