In your opinions would taking the CST test be beneficial to me aside from experiencing a 6 hour test format?
Would you as a PLS be more apt to hire someone with a CST than a technician without it?

I would say that it would prove to a potential employer that you were serious about your career and profession. If I was in the market for a helper, I would put a little more weight on some one with the certification, than one without, however, that certification is only part of the total package.

I'm pretty picky about who I have working with me, as professional appearance, attitude, and competence mean alot. I also work out of a small office on my property, and I don't want just anyone around the house, and especially with my equipment. Once you start paying for that equipment, you tend to look at things alot differently.

To sum it up, it is a step in the right direction. I took the office exam right after I graduated college, and it was a great experience for me. I had just taken the NICET exam for civil engineering technology. They both helped me get ready for my surveying licensure exams a few years later.

also factor the background benefit(s): if your company was trying to sell itself for construction stakeout, they could claim, we have x number cst people on staff. one is field const level 3, one is ofc boundary level 2, etc.

It shows you have the initiative to improve yourself.

Initiative is a valuable attribute for an employee to possess.
