My library is missing a few key texts. At the risk of serious flame, which edition of Clark does the crowd prefer?
None - they all taught me to abdicate my responsibility to the public in boundary disputes and suggest that my clients hire an attorney.
I don't own a recent copy. I did see a copy of the then current edition in the University of Oklahoma Law Library and spent a few quiet hours with it.?ÿ It gets regular supplement pages a la Corpus Juris Secundum and the like. It explores possible bases for arguing that a boundary should be where your client wants it to be, rather than principles that place it where it should be. As such, it is more of a book for lawyers than surveyors.?ÿ
I have a 2nd edition from the 1930's and even that is heavy reading. If I was going to make the investment I'd go for the latest, with a subscription to the ongoing supplements.
I have a fifth edition you can have.
It's autographed to me by Robillard.
I have the Fourth Edition (1976) and although I believe that it is worth reading (I guess), I was never very impressed with it.

A huge Thank You to Dave Lindell. My book addiction appreciates your generosity.?ÿ
Clark on Boundaries is another 'snapshot' of the thought processes used by many surveyors for the last hundred or so years. As much as we should love the law, following footsteps is easier if you have the map the first guy was using..
Which is why they are such a valuable resource. I studied under Dr. Dave Gibson, loved him, but I don't survey like him. I have attended several Ted Madson seminars, enjoyed them and found them very useful, but actually do very little of he says.?ÿ Worked for one of the two old 'on the ground' fathers of Florida surveying, learned a ton of incredibly valuable surveying traits, but still survey a little different than him.?ÿ
Thinking like Clark, and others you might not agree with,?ÿ while you are doing the fieldwork, will keep your rear end out of a lot of tight cracks (pun intended).

The book that launched a thousand pin cushions.
I have this one.

I have the eighth edition and all it does is collect dust.?ÿ ?ÿI had to have it for one of my classes to get my degree.?ÿ ?ÿIt is a binder where you can add more pages (updates - if you pay for them).?ÿ Never have referenced it since.
