In an attempt to learn a thing or two with my extra "stay at home" time I am seeking online resources for learning Civil 3D and/or Carlson Survey. I have done a little bit of simple drafting in Civil 3D and am very familiar with SurvCE, but have never taken any formal drafting classes and am looking for beginner level material. I appreciate any recommendations!?ÿ?ÿ

Start with vanilla AutoCAD before trying to add in C3d functionality. 95% of drafting is vanilla AutoCAD anyway.

The way I did it, long ago, was to duplicate a simple drawing, then something less simple, and so on. And ask questions of others as I went. There are plenty of "Beginning AutoCAD" videos on youtube.

If you want a book I'd go for something like AutoCAD And Its Applications. I would not spend money on the very latest edition at the beginning when versions just a couple years old can be had for little more than the cost of shipping. The basics haven't changed in years.?ÿ

1989, had a copy of R9, and a book I bought.

Had a project, draft a subdivision map.

Figured it out as I went.

eventually started writing AutoLisp routines.

I like the Youtube videos idea. I've found a lot of help for advanced Civil 3d questions and would predict a lot of good resources for beginners.

US CAD is offering some free courses thru end of June.?ÿ Need to register for account, but just basic info - no credit card.?ÿ Should be able to access previous lessons;

https://uscad.com/online-training-on-autodesk-products/

Haven't been through any of these courses, but may be worth a look. They've got a couple freebies....
