Where did you guys get training for percolation testing? I haven't been able to find a source in several years, although I've asked a few surveyors about the possibility of helping them or whatever. While I am licensed to do perc tests and have requests to do them, I am not going to do them without some kind of training in that area.

Only PE's, PLS's and licensed soil classifiers are allowed to certify percolation tests. As for training, go to ADPH.org for instructions. Every few years they have held seminars to explain new regulations but generally they don't provide training.
Even working solo, I find them to be a PIA and try to avoid them by quoting what I think is a high price plus require the applicant to provide a backhoe and operator at their expense to dig the 5' deep soil bores.

I don't think you need training to do a Perc test if you know how to dig a round hole and pour water. Your State Department of Environmental Quality should have a circular describing the procedure. The Montana procedure changed from last year. There's alot more time in presoaking than before.
