I am getting my Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying/Geomatics and I am working on my Senior Capstone project which involves RTK GPS accuracy. Many articles that I have found are in the technical journal "The Australian Surveyor" but I do not have access to any of it unless I want to spend 250 dollars for a subscription which I definitely do not want to do since I have no intent on getting this project published. Does anyone know how I can access these articles for free??ÿ

Thanks,

Tyler B.

Contact them directly and ask for access - for research purposes.

If they are associated with an academic institution their faculty page will frequently contain pre-print versions or actual articles. If not, contact the author and ask for a copy.?ÿ

While ƒ??The Australian Surveyor,ƒ? is an excellent resource, I wonder if you have looked for similar studies appearing in journals accessible through your university. When I taught at TAMU-CC (I left in 2013), we had access to the Journal of Geodesy and many others. Log in to the University system for access the Uni IP address is used to verify subscription status.

Many faculty members were subscribers to other journals and might have hard or digital copies of relevant research. Have you spoken to your faculty advisor about your problem??ÿ

Lots of good work is available through Australian universities like Curtin, RMIT and UNSW. There is even some good available from US and European researchers.

I do not know how you chose the articles you want access to. Doing a quick search on Google Scholar I came up with the following: (first page of results shown)

@geeoddmike I have contacted my faculty advisor and he will be checking with the campus librarian. I am completing this Bachelors degree through an online program so I don't have direct access to their library. I will see what other faculty members have to say. I conducted most of my research through google scholar but many of the articles on this subject pointed me back to the studies mentioned in the Australian Surveyor journal. I will continue to search for additional articles that I will have access to through my school.

Thank you everyone for the input. If I decide I really do need access to those articles I will contact them directly.

See whether a specific author has made the article available elsewhere such as at ResearchGate or arxiv. I was just able to download a 2012 paper by el-Mowafy from ResearchGate of "Performance Analysis of the RTK technique in an Urban Environment." Sometimes authors will post pre-prints/pre-edited versions on their home pages.

You can buy individual articles for $51 or an issue for $235 if other methods don't pan out.?ÿ

@tyler-brown  Even as an online program, you should be able to login and access the university's library page.  They should have an online database search engine that would allow you to look for the articles you have found by title.  If downloadable through the library there will be a PDF link to select.  If not directly available, you should be able to submit an inter-library loan request with information about the author, article, publication, date etc... and the librarian could probably get a copy of the article for you.
