I stopped by a courthouse a county over to get some information.?ÿ I wasn't planning to, but on the way back to my office, I stopped to see if I could find/set a couple of points to start the work from next week.?ÿ I dug up the front two corners; which were down about half a foot.?ÿ I then started to set up a NRTK receiver to hit a couple of points.?ÿ Didn't have the batteries as I hadn't planned to actually stop by.
Oh well, it's too dang hot anyway.?ÿ Then, I looked up the weather.com temp. report:
I'm getting too old for this shtuff.
?ÿ
I can't do the heat anymore, I like the office life, it's always sunny and 72 degrees.
It was a hot one here in Orlando as well. I tanked up with some water and Gatorade before heading out from the truck with my RTK and shovel to recover more PRMs. Not even an hour had passed when I began to develop a headache. I should have brought a bottle of water with me, but I wasn't wearing a safety vest so there was no place to put it. This all took place in the late morning.
We're dealing with Canadian smoke here. The North Central part of the state was code red on Wednesday and Thursday, orange today.
I've had nose bleeds and headaches and wear a mask indoors and out. Next week, we have the heat, not like the West, but bad enough.
Friday here in eastern Iowa the smoke had cleared a lot. We had several days of haze that limited visibility for aviation and I could see that it was hazy when looking at trees less than a block away.
@mathteacher I've seen some footage and can't even imagine how bad that smoke would be. Hopefully it will pass soon.
I live near Land Between the Lakes and they do controlled burns occasionally to keep the material down. It can get very smoky but is in small areas at a time.
I never work in lightning. Or Hail. If I'm feeling hail, I'm not sure why I'm not already in the truck. Lightning is a solid stop anytime. Heat Schmeet. Truck has AC for the end of the day.
My trucks are all equipped with 255 air conditioners. Two windows down and 55 miles per hour.
One has a heater that insists on working yearround.
you're tougher than I am. Something in the water over there I suppose.
yeah. I learned about Picher chat when I was working in environmental science.
It's a shame that people didnt rise up with pitchfork and axe handles to beat down the beN counters and 'scientists' that deemed it no harm and innocuous at that time.
something I learned was free rock and stone isn't really free, or good sometimes...
Chat was spread over many miles of roads in all directions. Dust, runoff,.......................Standard road culverts deteriorate much faster in those areas.
This was what the truck said when i got off the tractor. Truck was parked in under the shade of hardwoods. Probably more like 90ish all i know is outside feels like when you open the oven and check on mommas cakes. We fed cows this morning first and the ladies spent time picking blackberries for a pie. Once i got the ac on in truck I never wanted to leave. The heat is one thing but humidity is all together something else. What a day. And i am supposed to smoke some chicken and pork this afternoon. Good grief. We will have a late dinner lol.
I'm getting too old for this shtuff.
My last job had me traveling way too much (flew to Kansas City just to do a "Lunch and Learn" for a huge engineering company).
When I gave my notice, I told my boss that this is a great position for someone ambitious in their 40's but I'm just too old to be hauling my a** through airports two weeks out of every month.
