Ticks are becoming my biggest concern while in the field..
The man lived within five miles of the Missouri border in Bourbon County, Kansas. His son was one of my wife's students several years ago. This is within forty miles of me. I've done many jobs close to his home.
My daughter is employed by The University of Kansas Hospital where he was treated.
I took some ivermectrin cattle wormer. It was pour on, and I put some of it on my feet. I felt much better. That was a month ago. I have taken small doses of it since. I'd say I am 80% cured.
I am working full time now.
Still struggle with the emotional side of it, but it is manageable.

Not many crawling around Wisconsin now ............. 😀
Ticks look to be about the most dangerous thing out there for us. And there's different species, some quite small and easy to miss.
The little b%*^s are sneaky and carry a great variety of nasties, including:
Anaplasmosis
Babesiosis
Borrelia miyamotoi
Colorado tick fever
Ehrlichiosis
Heartland virus
Lyme disease
Powassan disease
Rickettsia parkeri rickettsiosis
Rocky Mountain spotted fever
STARI (Southern tick-associated rash illness)
Tickborne relapsing fever (TBRF)
Tularemia
364D rickettsiosis

Fortunately, they don't latch on immediately.
First, I notice that ticks don't seem to bother me nearly as much as others that go along with me. Body chemistry, I think. Wish that extended to mosquitoes and black flies ..........
I do use Permethrin spray on my field pants and really all my outer clothes since it works for mosquitoes and black flies too. It kills them pretty much on contact, although it takes a few minutes for them to drop off.
Just another reason to spray up.

You are an encouragement to an untold number of lurkers and their families Nate.
Cabela's "Insect Defense System" is a proprietary process of treating fabric.
Here's a video:
Worth looking into....I hate ticks..worse than ex-wives. :snarky:
PS - I wonder if they make treated underwear???
Thanks Brad.
It's been an odd journey.
