Sound track, or 'ear worm' call it what you like. In your head, on the CD player, or singing it when you're solo surveying.
Can't get this one out of my head at the moment, an old song that's been done to death by many but this is a clean guitar and vocal version by the great Arlo Guthrie,
There's also a Van Morrison version on youtube with superb photos of Virginia.

A truly American song
Los Lobos - One Time One Night
A wise man was telling stories to me
about the places he had been to and the things that he had seen
A quiet voice is singing something to me
An age old song 'bout the home of the brave and this land here of the free,
One time one night in America
A lady dressed in white with the man she loves
Standing along the side of their pick up truck
A shot rang out in the night
Just when everything seemed right
Another headline written down in America
The guy that lived next door in three oh five
took the kids to the park and disappeared 'bout half past nine
Who will ever know how much she loved them so
That dark night alone in America
A quiet voice is singing something to me
An age old song 'bout the home of the brave and this land here of the free,
One time one night in America
Four small boys playing ball in the parking lot
A preacher, a teacher, and the other became a cop
A car skidded into the rain
Making the last little one a saint
One more light goes out in America
A young girl tosses a coin in the wishing well
She hopes for a heaven while for her there's just this hell
She gave away her life to become somebody's wife
Another wish unanswered in America
People having so much faith
Die too soon while all the rest come late
We write a song that no one sings
On a cold black stone where a lasting peace will finally bring
The sunlight plays upon my window pane
I wake up to a world that's still the same
My father said to be strong
That a good man could never do wrong
In a dream I had last night in America
A wise man was telling stories to me
about the places he had been to and the things that he had seen
A quiet voice is singing something to me
An age old song 'bout the home of the brave and this land here of the free,
One time one night in America
One time one night in America
One time one night in America
I always sing this when I have the "metdet" and shovel in hand 😉

Have a great Sunday. 🙂
Hank Williams Jr. -- Dinosuar
My last nite's downloads were from the band RATT today I am searching for songs by FREE.
Discovered Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers a while back. Right now... "There ain't no Easy Street on my side of town".
Great tune!
Discover the music service "Spotify" a few weeks ago and have been listening to too many things I almost forgot about. Seem to keep going back for more of that "Moon Tan" album by Golden Earring and "We're an American Band" from Grand Funk Railroad.
Blind Willie Johnson & Lightnin' Hopkins. I dubbed 'em on to a cassette tape for the truck. You younguns know what a cassette tape is?

I get earworms all the time, and I usually live with them for days running. Since I have 10 guitars, 2 banjos, 2 ukuleles and a boxful of percussion toys in the house the earworms usually turn into attempts to play such tunes on whatever instrument comes to hand. It's a dreadful curse to bear, a horrendous distraction, and it is really counter-productive in getting any billable hours invoiced, but I remain undaunted.
While working in my lab, I've found that Pandora basically rules my life. Current stations on my playlist are:
Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James, James McMurtry, Townes Van Zandt, Lucinda Williams, Eliades Ochoa, Great Big Sea, The Pogues, The Chieftains, JJ Cale, Taj Mahal, Shawn Colvin, Gillian Welch, Gilberto Gil, Los Super Seven, Los Lobos, Ry Cooder, and she's not generally available but if you ever run across Zelia Duncan, check her Brazilian music out.
I also like to get my "swamp boogie" on, so CC Adcock, Zachary Richard, Clifton Chenier and Queen Ida are regular guests musical guests here in the North Country.
Some of this could change drastically tomorrow, but some will stay the same.
The Lost Notebook of Hank Williams:
All fine tunes...but Levon and Norah really get it (git it). Just a part of a great disc.
