Two precast concrete arches. Near Wells Nv on I-80.

It took me a bit of research but I figured it out.

Pronghorn antelope. Research found antelope won't go through tunnels. Deer, elk & moose will go through a tunnel but not antelope.

Ditto. Rankin already identified one of those for me in the big sky.....

I believe they have something like that in Europa, specifically Germany.

It would be interesting to know why they choose to locate it there. A known antelope crossing/ problem? Some sort of study?

Looks like it's going to be a 'Natural Bridge'
They assume wildlife will cross there, rather than trying to cross the road, to help reduce/avoid road kill and related accidents.

Indeed, we have'em here in Belgium too,
not so many wildlife left so you can better protect it.

We did some 'studies' that included some surveying for the smaller animals, frogs and salamanders. And already constructed 2 eco-ducts (tunnels).

Along our freeways where the bigger animals could cross they placed reflectors that reflect the approaching lights back into the woods, preventing the animals to cross and guiding them to the save eco crossing bridge.

During the studies they have been counting the crossing species, don't know if they already have counted now the safe crossing are constructed.

TxDOT has a toad tunnel...

I read a report a few years back that a tunnel was put in under Highway 71 near Bastrop, TX so the endangered Houston Toad could cross back and forth during their mating migration. A study was done a little later to see if the tunnel was helping with the toad population and it was discovered the snakes had learned to hang out near the ends of the tunnel for an easy feast.

TxDOT has a toad tunnel...

About 15 yrs ago I attended a seminar on culvert design and issues. The presenter mentioned this crossing with the same anecdote and also included that when designed they didn't account for the fact that toads hop.

Nevada DOT announcement for deer xing construction.

This one might not be for the antelope. The study references deer. It must be a location where deer are continually hit by cars. I've hit four deer so far in life with considerable expense and lucky that I've never been hurt.

They probably chose the overpass because the road is already in place and a tunnel construction (cheaper with new construction) would have been to disruptive to traffic. They don't mention antelope but do other large animals. With high fences for a few miles each direction they can direct the deer to this location to cross.

Yeah, I've heard that before. Makes you wonder if someone could actually be that dumb. Deer can read, when did that happen?
