I'll be in Austin, TX Tuesday night through Friday morning for work. I was thinking about trying to catch some music or good craft beer joint. Any recommendations?

Plenty of craft beer places around. Stay away from Dirty 6th. South Congress is a good place to visit for food, drink and music. If you're looking for a small bar type place to hang that may have music, craft beer or both look up:

Bars/Venues:
Indian Roller (South)
Moontower Saloon (South)
Rainey Street (Bars, music venues and food truck park. It's a street lined down both sides, not far from IH-35 and 6th)
Stay Gold (East)
Drinks (East)

Food:
Torchy's Tacos
Lucy's Fried Chicken
Magnolia Cafe
Kerbey Lane Cafe
Jacoby's
Grizzelda's

That's a good start! Enjoy your stay.

@squirl

Admittedly it's been over 40 years since I've been to Austin but it was definitely a nice place to spend a long weekend.  "Oat Willie's" was the hangout back then.  And of course "Hippie Hollow" on Lake Travis.

Not familiar with "Oat Willie's" but Hippie Hollow is still going strong!

What gets a Wisconsin feller to wander off so far southerly??ÿ You do realize don't you that the type of language you hear in southern Illinois and consider to be Southern language cannot begin to compare with anything south of the Red River.?ÿ Neither one is English, but,then again, neither is Wisconsianisherite.

Yeah nm. The store in New Braunfels is the largest.  Was reading the Texas Monthly article and got the two swapped.

@squirl

You left off The Big name BBQ places!  You don't want him to experience spending all morning standing in a line?   ???œ
