UPDATE ON RICHARD ABBOTT.
Richard is a wonderful fellow.?ÿ It is so unfortunate that he must suffer so much.
I have never met the man and probably never will.?ÿ He was a great forum contributor, and I glean that he's a great guy.?ÿ The world will be less without him.?ÿ I hope he stays comfortable.
ALS sucks!
End of life is a challenging time for all involved. ?ÿThank God, for the caregivers, and for angels here on earth, like??.Angel.
Thank you for keeping us updated, Angel.
I was able to spend some time with RADU, on several occasions. He stayed with me for a few days, before we went to the PLSO Conference in 2004, then again at the ACSM Conference in Las Vegas 2005, then in Utah at the ACSM conference 2007; was the last time I saw him.
It was very interesting to hear about surveying on the other side of the planet...
Anyone else remember when Richard organized a topless protest against some political item locally??ÿ Seems like there might have been a photo posted.
Richard is not one to be shy about stating his opinion.?ÿ The following link is to a Letter to the Editor type of message in support of businesses in remote Coober Pedy despite being a resident of Adelaide.
@holy-cow Excellent letter by RADU!?ÿ I hope something came of it....?ÿ But, hey, government happens and most don't care until it's too late....
I shared a hotel room with him at the FIG Congress in Sydney in 2010. We had some good conversations. Interesting guy. Not afraid to give his opinion (nor am I). So sorry to hear that he is in declining health.?ÿ
I consider myself lucky to have met him (and many other famous posters!)?ÿ at ACSM in Utah.?ÿ We had a great conversation at lunch after his presentation.?ÿ ?ÿCheers to RADU and thanks for the update!
Hello friends.
