Hey guys...I got this update from RADUS friend in Australia. It was posted on Richards "Baby Boomers" site that I admin for him. -Angel

UPDATE ON RICHARD ABBOTT.

Good afternoon friends.
I have just spoken to Richard Abbott's wife, for an update to pass on to you.
Since our last conversation, about 2 months ago, not much has changed, however, now he has moved from home to a nursing home, nearby.
He is still finding it hard to walk and does spend most of his day in bed. The conversation is also hard for him, but in saying that, he is fighting as hard as he can.
His lovely wife always is thankful for the call and passes on her thanks to all their friends.
Cheers for now, live and love life, and most importantly, stay safe.

@noodles

Thank you for keeping us updated, Angel.

I was able to spend some time with RADU, on several occasions. He stayed with me for a few days, before we went to the PLSO Conference in 2004, then again at the ACSM Conference in Las Vegas 2005, then in Utah at the ACSM conference 2007; was the last time I saw him.

It was very interesting to hear about surveying on the other side of the planet...

Anyone else remember when Richard organized a topless protest against some political item locally??ÿ Seems like there might have been a photo posted.

Richard is not one to be shy about stating his opinion.?ÿ The following link is to a Letter to the Editor type of message in support of businesses in remote Coober Pedy despite being a resident of Adelaide.

I shared a hotel room with him at the FIG Congress in Sydney in 2010. We had some good conversations. Interesting guy. Not afraid to give his opinion (nor am I). So sorry to hear that he is in declining health.?ÿ

From Richard Abbotts Friend, Leighton.?ÿ

Hello friends.

Today, I spoke with Richard Abbott's wife, and the news is still not good.
A couple of weeks ago he had a mild stroke, due to trying to do too much, on a short outing he did.
It is now affecting his heart, and has breathing difficulties too, with very low oxygen levels, which they are having problems trying to increase.
He has difficulty speaking and gets confused very easily.
I asked his wife to pass on our well wishes, and we are hoping that his health will improve, however, it seems that may not be possible.
Should you wish further information on how to possibly contact his wife, please PM me, but I shall be using my discretion on that, as I am sure you would understand..
Thanks, to you all, and as always, stay safe.
