Well, Having bought the ugliest boat I've ever seen a few weeks ago, I just sold the prettiest boat I've ever owned. I have been trying to sell my 18' Concordia Sloop boat all summer long. This is a classic gaff rigged sloop designed by Pete Culler, a known name amongst boat builders.

Here's a shot under sail.

And at anchor

Well El Viento is sold now and heading up Cape to Sandwich to a new life as a sailing charter boat.

But, the real news is the bot I bought a few weeks ago!

Here's a reminder of what I bought.

What is looked like after last weekends worth of sanding and adding missing parts.

And today, ready to go sailing! (Trying some sea trials this weekend I 'm hoping)
Not a lot of difference in the last two pictures, but I know what was done! LOL

Now, paint everything, varnish the bright work, mount a motor, and it's ready for next season! I'll be mounting a motor later today for our weekend trials 🙂

So, I had the two happiest days of a boaters life within 10 days, I bought the catboat on a Tuesday, and the next Thursday sold the Sloop after taking the buyer out for a sail in her. I think I got it backwards though; According to the saying I should probably be boat less 🙂

El Viento leaves my yard in an hour!

Happy Sailing, and oh, yes, by the way I have been working too 🙂

Looking good. And I don't believe the part about working - at least working at surveying.

Boats, like women, must be a case of where beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Livestock are like that, too. A skilled cattle buyer, for example, can pick out a good looking animal from a large group moving through a sale ring in a few seconds time. Likewise, he can pick out the ugly one in the same time and call out to the auctioneer to "hold one". If the bidding is sluggish the auctioneer will announce that the lucky bidder can have one animal held back from the group upon bidding is otherwise finished. Usually, the one held back will be sold for a significant discount relative to the others. In this case, the "ugly" one is one that will have poor characteristics and will not be as likely to be a moneymaker in the long run.

In the water!!!

So, the new owner of my old boat took possession on Friday. It's going to become a sailing charter ride down in the Sandwich area.

Leaving Home

Well, then with cash in hand I replaced my old motor, mounted it on the new boat and splashed the boat Saturday.

Ready To launch

Under sail

On the mooring, a mile and half from my house.

Yes, a bunch of cosmetic work yet to be done, but she functions just as advertised!, Awesome!

And so far the name is "China Cat"....
