"Forever Dad" , and stood in the courtroom holding a four year old and affirmed with Mrs. File that we would assume and perform all parental duties for that four year old. It's been a long 18 month process but he's with us for good now.

Everyone needs to follow suit and there would be less wayward children in the world.

As a school board member and the spouse of a school teacher, I have seen too many kids fall through the bureaucratic cracks that exist today. There are too many "know-it-alls" running the various so-called children support services that couldn't raise a good stink by eating a gallon of navy beans, let alone raise a child properly.
It is not the child's fault. But, they pay the price. They arrive at School D after spending three weeks at School C and seven weeks at School B after four weeks at School A.....and it's not even Christmas yet. No matter how helpful the various teachers and others try to be, there is nothing better than a stable home life to keep a school-aged child on track.

That is awesome. As a person who accepted a step-father as my real Dad, I can fully appreciate this. A real Dad is not one who HAS to take the challenge, but one who CHOOSES to take that challenge, whether by blood or not.
