Some people are disappointed that TIME Magazine nominated Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook as Person of the Year, instead of Julian Assange of Wikileaks.
I really like this anonymous comment made about the situation:
"Facebook and Wikileaks really are two sides to the same coin: Wikileaks wants to take secrets of government and corporations and make them available to the people. Facebook, on the other hand, wants to take the private individual's secrets and make them available to corporations and the government."
Personally, I could not care less who Time's "Person of the Year" is. Adolf Hitler was one...
Darn! Once again, they didn't pick me.
Me either!! What's wrong with those guys?? 😀
That is a great insight! I agree Mr. dotCox.
Don
geez Angel, They already voted you Time person of the year in 2006.
Don't be so greedy 😉
Time's Person Of The Year
Facebook, on the other hand, wants to take the private individual's secrets and make them available to corporations and the government.
This is beyond baseless. Facebook is not some online financial institution or email service that a end user would assume certain privacy within a communication. Facebook is an extended version of an online forum that is a tool for communication. They give the USER the luxury of being able to keep information private or not. If a USER chooses to use Facebook or any other digital media for communication then they should assume it is public. If they want to keep things private, Pick up the phone, meet face to face.
Basically, If you type it ask yourself, would your mother approve? or better yet, would the local magistrate approve.
