I would have used pin flags to save money on clamps.

Pin flags would have worked..

just fine...

But you have to admire a man that takes the time to do it right!

and my new skidder!!!!

It was getting pretty loud and my neighbor-mechanic told me I needed to replace the whole $140 pipe or buy the $25 flex connector and weld it. The old flex connector has a stainless steel braid that rotted out, but after repositioning the S.S. braid and adding 1/2 roll of Reynolds Wrap, it sounds like new.

We'll see how long it lasts. I hoping till October inspection at least with the 94 ford escort..

hey, check out my $1600 skidder! Almost too good for the woods, but I don't plan on registering it.

good work, but when the tinfoil blows out in a couple weeks...

get a few old fashioned muffler clamps, the U-bolt type... one size larger than the exhaust pipe. save those hose clamps for something else.
with your tin snips cut maybe 1/2 dozen 2" strips of coffee can (metal can, not plastic).
Put the clamps on loose, slip the can strips in and overlap a bit (watch your fingers!)
tighten the clamps, done deal

kids... give them a book and they eat the cover

Beer cans ....

are more durable than aluminum foil. And a walk up and down the road will get them for free.

Beer cans ....

Dave , the aluminium foil was just for show. The stainless steel braid underneath is atually what's plugging the hole.

Hub locks. Gettin' out in the mud to make the 4wd work 'cause I was to lazy to lock 'em in while I was in the dry.

Those were the days.

No you didn't

I don't see one single smidgen of DUCT TAPE anywhere. No job is "fixed" unless duct tape in involved. 😉

Have a great weekend! B-)

agreed, but beer cans are aluminum... I prefer steel for long term durability. there are lots of salts in the ground here... besides, beer cans are too short for this task so I vote for coffee cans (if you can find a metal one)

This truck will be pretty much left in 4wd and have tire chains on. Drive up the hill, fill it with firewood, drive back down to the landing next to the woodsplitter and split from one truck into the other.

1968 did similar with a Coors beer can and bailing wire. It was on a gov't vehicle. GSA gave me the business when I finally go it into the shop. But, sometimes you do what you have to do.

Quickly learned how to blow holes in exhaust pipes when welding a new piece in, already knew how to fill the holes using prior experience, even with 1/16" rod, a stick welder is not the tool to use. Have a gas wire feed now, but let the pros do that kind of work now.

Have done that with bailing wire but never perfected the technique.

You really don't want to be using a torch around my 94 escort. (Slight gas leak)
