This is a short youtube video, on how to make the truckers hitch. I am sure most of you already know how, but this is a great illustration.
Thank you,

I don't use it much anymore -- ratchet tie-downs are stronger and more convenient-- but back in the day I liked to throw a couple of half-hitches over the loop after cinching it up to keep it from working loose.
The Ashley Book of Knots considers that a dangerous knot.
Use to use that for the mechanical advantage to haul whitewater rafts off rocks. Usually use the taught line hitch for tie downs
- Thought about it a little more and we called it a Z drag as it looked like a Z.
- The other neat thing was by moving the tag line upstream and downstream along the shoreline you could effectively change the angle of pull

The Ashley Book of Knots considers that a dangerous knot.
Where does it say that? In the edition I downloaded #2124 seems to be close to what is in the video and receives no negative comment.
#2126 looks different although it has some similarities and says "less dependable." I can see why - one of the loops can pull through.

The trouble with that version is the slip knot can be difficult to undo.
