I'm glad Kansas City,?ÿMissouri won the Super Bowl, it was awesome.
The local newspaper here has a second coming headline "HEARTBREAKER What went wrong?" I got the answer to that problem right here...THEY DIDN'T SCORE ENOUGH POINTS.?ÿ But I'm not much of a Football fan.?ÿ I mean how in heck does 3rd and 8 get succeeded by 1st and 10? Weird math right there.?ÿ But I digress.
Even though I'm not a real fan of either team I did enjoy the game.?ÿ It was a good rock'em-sock'em-never-a-dull-moment four quarters.?ÿ One team had to lose and one had to win.?ÿ
Around here in Norman, OK there are a lot of OU football fans that have a hard time admitting defeat when faced with a loss.?ÿ My favorite is to hear one of them say, "We beat ourselves".?ÿ?ÿAnd even though I cheer for the home team I'm always quick to point out that there was another team on the field along with the folks in the black and white shirts and they all played in accordance with a published book of rules.?ÿ It was a game and one team won and one team lost.
Congrats to all of the Chiefs, staff and fans.?ÿ And in particular, congrats to Coach Andy Reid.?ÿ I like it when old timers finally get recognition.
?ÿ
fans ... say, "We beat ourselves".?ÿ
When a fan says "we ..." I ask what position they played.
While I understand that many find watching sports more interesting than I do, and that's fine, such a level of identification with a bunch of people they have never met still mystifies me.
Dave's highlight of Missouri is, I am sure, due to a certain politician sending out a message about how the Chiefs had represented Kansas so very well.?ÿ Hey, he was only off about 10 miles and most people don't really know when they are leaving KCKS and entering KCMO or vice versa.?ÿ I suppose he could have honored Oklahoma as they also have a City of Kansas.
I was truly hoping that Andy Reid would not keel over from a heart attack?ÿ while being interviewed immediately after the game.?ÿ I thought he might drop over when they hit him with the Gatorade.?ÿ He's a geezer, like me.
For me, it was deja vu all over again as I remember well what happened in 1970 when the Minnesota Vikings went home very sad after what would later be known as the Super Bowl.?ÿ Little known fact:?ÿ When the Chiefs played Green Bay in what is thought of as Super Bowl I in 1967 (actually AFL/NFL Championship Game) each league had television contracts with different networks, so the game was simulcast on two networks.

My sentiments also as I watched him endured the fanfare.?ÿ But you know, if he had keeled over he would've had a smile on his face.?ÿ 😉
It was a fun game to watch, didn't know who would win going into the 4th Quarter. Chiefs were down 10 but they sure looked hungry to me. It was fun watching them take the game back from the 49ers.
What is odd to me is the Coaches and Players win the game then they hand the giant Trophy to some other guy. I'm informed he is the "owner." So? He didn't do anything but sit there then he sneaks in and takes the trophy.
I'm informed he is the "owner." So?
Isn't he the guy that signs the paychecks?

When Oregon State goes 6-5 that is a winning season. Beaver Nation goes nuts and convenes en mass in some podunk west Texas town for the big American Standard Bowl game on December 17.
When the Sooners go 10 and 1, that's a losing season. There is no joy.?ÿ ?ÿ?ÿ
Football fanatics at least have something to laugh at about me when I tell them I don't follow football. I'm a F1?ÿ fan, and also a race fan of anything with a combustion engine in it, on it, or "attached hereto". (Formula E?ÿ No)
So my friends and their buddies get a real rise jerking my chain about cars and circles, the NASCAR Mensa Club, chewin', dippin', runnin'shine, trucks etc. Oh, they have a great time. I simply explain to them they are not fully evolved.?ÿ ?????ÿ
PS: Did the Royals win?

You are so right.?ÿ And it's sad.?ÿ 10 and 1 and we hear rumors that the current coach is probably on his way out...
I'm a bit more realistic than that as I am also a dyed-in-the-wool Packer fan.?ÿ Packer fans take a loss on the chin and then go get another beer.
My employer thought I should get an award for some reason...they didn't give it to the State Controller (she signs our paychecks), THEY GAVE IT TO ME!
Just glad my prediction that Mahomes would see that Richard Sherman was too slow to keep up when one on one.
and that was the ballgame
I had to watch it on the NFL app because I live in hollow some 60+mi from the transmitter where very few TV signals go and DishTV kicked FOX off their local broadcast because every year the people that control the airwaves based out of Louisiana want too much money for what little they do.
At least today the NFL channel rebroadcast the game without the breaks between plays, halftime show and leadins and leadouts.
Tonight I finally got to see Shakira and J Lo shake it together.
@flga I am evolving though. My wife is scheduled to retire at the end of this year. One of the things on her bucket list is to do a NASCAR summer. Jump in the camper and hit track after track. I don't chew, dip, or run shine, but I did try to drink all the beer in my youth.

That was the year that Alabama ended the year undefeated but was ranked third in college football.?ÿ "Bear" Bryant was asked if he thought that the Tide was truly third.?ÿ His reply was, "Absolutely we're third.?ÿ Right behind Green Bay and Kansas City".

Couple of middle-aged women trying to be 25 again. Their average age is 46.5, by the way. I skipped it the first time and won't go out of my way to view the scene. Of course, I skip the half time foolishness every year to take time to check up on who has said what here and respond accordingly.
I know, I know. I'm 20 years older than that 46.5 and should be appreciative of their ability to get out of their rocking chairs after burping their grandchildren.
