The groove of all grooves:
?ÿ
Better driving song? Only problem with it is it's too short.?ÿ
One of my all time favorites.?ÿ?ÿ
I don' t know if you're familiar with Steve Cropper who co-wrote this (and a multitude of others) song and is picking at his Strat on this cut.?ÿ But I ran into this interview sometime back.?ÿ A little insight on one of the many classics from way back. It's worth listening to the entire 8 minutes of this interview from 2008.
BTW - If you don't know who Steve Cropper is you might be familiar with him anyway..he was the guitarist in the band for the Blues Brothers movie.?ÿ And he was also in caricature as the blues band guitarist for the Muppets.?ÿ
Thank you gentlemen!
Booker was 17 when he tapped out his lil riff, Cropper was a bit older. High school kid and a young 20 year old with an amazing drummer and bass player jamming and Green Onions was the result.?ÿ
I was playing basketball in college with a guy from Memphis, he was really pissed about Al Jackson Jr's (the drummer) murder during the summer of 75, Jackson stayed home instead of going to a gig in Detroit so he could watch the Thrilla in Manila. It was a big deal in 75 if you knew about the group.
Donald "Duck" Dunn became the bass player and was in the Blues Brothers with Cropper.
They played on and composed so much good music, Sittin on the Dock of the Bay, In the midnight Hour, Soul Man, session players with Clapton, Dylan, Helm. The list seems endless.
