@bill93

Yes. Going out gets more dangerous as the virus spreads.

@flga

Refrain from overeating, you will not have enough TP to last until more arrives.

What did surprise me is the speed that some private development work has been put on hold.

?ÿ

That doesn't surprise me at all.

Having worked through three major recessions, I am all too well aware that surveyors are in forefront when things turn down.

At the moment we are still busy, but I'm expecting new work to dry up in the next fortnight or so.

Maybe I will get that early retirement after all.

Interesting times...

So true. But I think that in this case the ramping back up should come quickly and after a relatively short time.?ÿ?ÿ

Loving it so far. I've fished more in the last two weeks than I typically do within a 6-8 month period.

IL is officially shut down now. At this point I am not impacted as I can work from home and we cover many states. Good friend of mine who works for a small engineering firm was told today to burn PTO or take unpaid leave but to not come back until lockdown is lifted.?ÿ

@rankin_file. Perhaps...but basis of question is that we’ve been told work for IDOT, power companies, water etc. are essential to the upkeep of infrastructure and these projects must continue. So yes being an employee of a DOT is a good question, but also curious if other consulting firms are taking the same approach.

@stlsurveyor I was making a joke on the DOT employee thing, but you have a valid question regarding consultant contracts. Plus will there be amendments available for additional expenses? Does this mean a 2 person crew has to take 2 rigs and will the expense be covered, what about per diem rates, travel, and ultimately contract time? The people in the states currently locked down will be the guinea pigs for the rest of us as decisions are made and precedents set. Good luck if you’re a guinea pig.

Courthouses are closing or becoming challenging to access.?ÿ This is an area where much of what we need to know is stored in those courthouses and not available in any other way.?ÿ If it is something incredibly easy a courthouse employee MIGHT be willing to attempt to assist.?ÿ But, much of the work requires the survey professional to find and interpret the information.

Have one project that may get moved ahead of several others only because it worked out for me to get into the two courthouses (county line involved) early this week before restrictions began to apply.?ÿ I returned to one of those courthouses on Wednesday but had to answer a string of questions and have my temperature taken to get past the lobby.?ÿ Then I had to be escorted to and from the two offices were I had to do research.

If this current issue does not come under control soon we may see major changes in how we operate in the future.
